News

Entrance is now free

Visitors to next year’s event and future Tip-Ex shows will no longer pay an entrance fee. This is aimed at making the exhibition more accessible for hauliers by speeding up entry times and to bring it in line with other trade shows.

No increase in stand space prices

We are delighted to announce that, despite our decision to make Tip-Ex a free-to-enter show, stand space prices have been pegged at 2008 levels.  We have been able to accomplish this as a result of our three year deal with the Harrogate Exhibition Centre.  The result is that exhibiting at Tip-Ex10 will offer exceptional value for money at a time when budgets are stretched in the aftermath of recession.

Outside display areas

With the full backing of Harrogate Council, we will be cordoning off the Crescent Gardens and Montpellier areas directly opposite the main exhibition halls to provide a large open air display site. These roads will allow the largest of vehicles to be shown with plenty of room all around for visitors to inspect them.

Best of all, the new stand space is much closer to the main indoor areas and thus will give the show a more integrated feel.

Book your space now and save

Because this year’s show was unfortunately cancelled and in view of the new outside display the Tip-Ex panel decided that it would not realistically be possible to offer ‘Grandfather rights’ when booking stands.  Stand space will thus be sold on a first come, first served basis, although as always, to be fair to everyone, there will be a limit to the amount any one manufacturer can book.

The G&T booking hot line will be open from 10am on Wednesday July 1st although those who had already paid deposits for this year’s cancelled show but not reclaimed them, will be able to book from 9am.

Early booking is strongly recommended as demand is likely to be very high and if you book before the end of September you’ll qualify for a special 10% discount.

To enhance the internal space, we’ve revised the layout of hall B to make it more accessible by removing the ‘dog leg’ corridor.  And new, high level signage will direct visitors through the halls, particularly between C and B.  The catering outlet in C will be re-located toward the end of the hall and the restaurant in the exhibition halls will also be open for the duration of the show build-up period to cater for contractors and stand staff.

Gala Dinner

Once again last year’s Gala Dinner proved to be very popular, but we have made some important changes to the format designed to make it an even more enjoyable experience next year.

It will still be held in the Majestic Hotel on the Friday night but we have reduced the number of places available so that everyone can be accommodated within the main dining room.

There will, of course, be a first class meal, top entertainment and the chance to cavort, dance and generally let your hair down!

Don’t miss out - early booking is strongly recommended.

Publicity and sponsorship

Tip-Ex will receive maximum publicity in all the leading relevant media including the commercial vehicle trade press and specialist sector publications. There will be an intensive advertising and PR campaign leading up to the event to maximise awareness and visitor attendance.

Pre-registration flyers will be sent to our data base and will be inserted in key magazines.  As before stickers will be available to exhibitors for use on stationary.  Web links from our website to exhibitors’ sites will be included.

There are a number of sponsorship opportunities available too, including the visitor lanyards featuring the sponsoring company’s name and logo.  For further details please contact us on 01362 654846 or e-mail us at: info@gandtevents.com

Exhibitor survey

Following last year’s Tip-Ex G&T Events asked all exhibitors to complete a simple questionnaire regarding exhibition dates, which days of the week it should be open, opening times and Gala dinner dress code.

The majority wanted the show to be moved to June and most said it should be held on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the week opening at 9.30am and closing at 5.00pm.

With regard to the Gala dinner dress code the majority opted for lounge suit.

As a result of the questionnaire G&T Events is endeavouring to find suitable dates for future shows away from the Whitsun break.  However next year’s exhibition is already confirmed as being held from Thursday 27th May through to Saturday 29th May.  Opening times will be 9.30am to 5pm and dress for the Gala dinner will be lounge suit.

Marketing opportunities

G&T Events has built up a comprehensive data base of over 3,000 tipper and bulk transport operators.  Each and everyone is a potential customer.  We will be shortly announcing unique marketing opportunities enabling you to tap into this resource to maximise your sales, PR and marketing opportunities.

HIC redevelopment plans on course

Plans to upgrade and improve HIC’s exhibition facilities are progressing well, according to Harrogate Council.

Planning consent has been granted for the first phase of development which consists of a new state-of-the-art exhibition hall of 1650sqm with a clear internal height of 7m, together with a further overflow exhibition hall of 1500sqm, fully linked into the conference centre and the other exhibition facilities.

This £13m scheme is awaiting final confirmation of funding and if all goes well it is expected the new facility - which is to be built without disruption to any of HIC’s existing events - will be commissioned and brought into use by Spring 2011.  The redevelopment will not affect next year’s or any future Tip-Ex exhibitions but will eventually provide a much improved exhibition arena.
